These images are born from the confluence of two cultures and two lived experiences. The fruit of overlapping negatives under the enlarger, they witness the fusion of two moments captured thousands of miles apart: France and China intertwine in the artist’s hands.
Through this series of ten photographs, the author explores recurring themes: the marks of passing time, architecture, and the omnipresence of nature. Are they doors or portraits? The subject, simultaneously actor and spectator, finds themselves projected into a universe foreign to their roots. These singular forms with gaping maws, immersed in improbable landscapes, confront us with our own finitude and the imprint—however tenuous—that our brief passage leaves upon the world.
